|   A Few Snail Facts!   |

As the snail continues to grow its shell grows with it, expanding and hardening. The snails of the world produce a calcium carbonate substance to create new shell material (wherein hermit crabs find shells to move in to)

Land snails have a longer pair of tentacles on the head housing eyes on the tip (or at the base of the tentacle for sea snails)

A snail’s teeth are arranged in rows on its tongue, and snails may have between 14,000 teeth – 20,000 + teeth!

Snails can leave their shell to find food, for mating rituals, laying eggs, or just to change the environment

Snails can live without shells, and are known as slugs

Some snail species live in cold places like the Arctic.  Some snails are found in warm places like beaches and deserts.  An assortment of snails are aquatic – living in the sea, rivers, oceans.   Land snail species can be found in almost any dark damp area they can fit. 🐌💗
